Wilde Tiere Family Club in Zurich
Heike and I visited the newly opened Wilde Tiere Family Club this morning. I have seen this place as we ride the #6 tram to the Zoo most weeks but I had not gone in until this morning. Located right off the tram stop at Kirche Fluntern. We were warmly greeted right at the door by founders Stephanie and Irene. I was invited as part of a Zürich bloggers morning to have a coffee and a tour of this new family oriented soft play café. Heike went straight to playing in the obstacle course and she kept quite busy (only pausing for 2 little croissants and a glass of orange juice!) playing until we left and hour and a half later. That is the best test, after all. She loved it. She played while I drank coffee and chatted with moms. How perfect is that?
Meanwhile, all the moms sat, drank cappuccinos, and listened to Stephanie’s vision of this ever evolving family café. And I must say, the cappuccinos are good. (I won’t name all the bitter coffee shops I’ve visited in Zürich thus far…) Stephanie and Irene gave us a tour of their space including the kitchen (where they try to keep things local, organic, and sugar-free) crèche (they have morning drop off crèche from 9am-12pm while you run errands around town), German class, spa (located inside an old bank vault, quite cool), lounge areas, and the yoga and pilates room. Did I mention they are open on Sundays (gasp!)?
Wilde Tiere is targeted at the 0-5 year old age group and it does that absolutely perfectly. I feel like if I moved to Zürich when my daughters were two years old and a newborn this place would be a dream come true. I would love to meet all my mom friends here while letting the toddlers play. It’s a safe place to let your kids run around. Or even a morning date with my husband! A place for a mom to sit and chat while enjoying a coffee and for a kid to play is like a match made in heaven. The best part is this café is here for families. So you can come in and let your child run. It is pram friendly and has outside seating in the warmer months. Downstairs the bathrooms are entirely child and wheelchair accessible, with unisex changing stations so that you can see your older child washing their hands while you are changing the baby. Perfect.
And I love their tagline: Play time for children, Time out for parents.
