Confiserie Sprüngli
My perfect day starts with coffee. I love to wander the beautiful cobbled streets of Zurich, pop into a coffee shop, and sit by a gorgeous window and take it all in. I order a cappuccino and an almond croissant. (I am on a constant search for the best coffee and almond croissants in Zurich.) It is my happy place. It also gives me a chance to practice my German (that’s what I tell myself).
So yesterday, Heike and I hopped a train to town. We were running and laughing down the Bahnhofstrasse. It was like a magical movie moment I wanted to freeze forever. We were running straight for Confiserie Sprüngli. I ordered their famous hot chocolate and almond croissant. Heike ordered a fruit salad (so sensible). Later, Heike went to the sweets counter and ordered herself a pink Luxemburgerli (their signature macaron).
Truth be told, we came to Sprüngli on Saturday as well to escape the cold weather in between candle making and Christmas Market-ing. We ordered hot chocolates and I could not get it out of my mind all weekend! They are the perfect winter warm up indulgence. So we had to come back first thing Monday morning.
Sprüngli was founded in 1836. The Paradaplatz location opened in 1859. I was basically on a historical journey by visiting this cafe…right?
