Péclard in Conditorei Schober
The best almond croissant in Zürich is at Péclard in Conditorei Schober. The café is nestled behind the Grossmünster in old town Zürich. When you step inside the café, you may become instantly distracted by the gigantic silver cash register, chandeliers, pastries, cakes, chocolates, or any number of other delicious confections. Keep wandering in and you can choose from six seating options. Outside in the front of the café, outside in the garden, ground floor (casual), first floor (velvet, piano, fancy) and second floor (perfect blend of ground floor and first floor in my opinion) and finally the third floor has a more traditional tea room.
I can’t believe the history behind the building that dates back to the 14th century. It is beautifully decorated and only outdone by the exquisite pastries and chocolate. A wonderful blog post from Kerrin at My Kugelhopf describes a bit more about the pastry chef and the gorgeous macarons and cakes available. Another great blog post about beating winter blues by warming up with a hot chocolate at Péclard is worth a read. Péclard provides the pastries and chocolates for Cafe Milchbar, another favorite spot for my almond croissant and cappuccino mornings.
Where is your favorite spot in Zürich for a morning coffee?
