Ice Skating at Dolder
Hadley, 5, is on school holidays so we had a girl date today. Her date of choice was ice skating at the Dolder ice rink. She is so excited about being able to skate on her own now (without the ice bear the kids can use to balance while learning to skate).
The trip to Dolder is fun. We took a train, tram and funicular to get there. We rented skates, put our belongings in a locker, and took to the ice. Hadley loved watching the girls practicing their skating routines in the roped off rink area. The facilities at Dolder are great with lots of space, lockers, bathrooms, benches, restaurant, fondue igloo, The Dolder Grand Hotel, curling, etc. On a sunny clear day the view is amazing.
After skating, we took the funicular back down and ate at our old easy favorite Le Pain Quotidien, at the bottom of the funicular in Römerhofplatz. (When we were in corporate housing in London for a few months 2 years ago, we had a Le Pain Quotidien next door that the girls and I went to most mornings. They are quite kid friendly with their food, toys, and postcards and menus for the girls to color and send. The Speculoos Biscuit Spread with a bread plate is our weakness.) Once again I had soup, and it was amazing.
