Venice With Kids- Europa Camping Village
Getting To Venice:
We love traveling to Venice with kids. So when Europa Camping Village invited us to stay with them, we couldn’t wait to make a long weekend out of it. i started by buying train tickets from Zurich to Venice. There is a daily train from Zurich to Venice leaving at 9:10am every day. This train gets into Venice at 15:40. It’s 6 1/2 hours with a reserved seat on one train. I think it’s a really nice way to get to Venice. And I love taking the train.
We arrived at the Venice Santa Lucia train station at 15:40pm on a Thursday of a 4 day holiday weekend in June. A short bus ride later we were at our beach front resort for the weekend. I mean, camping village. Now this isn’t your father’s type of camping. There are houses, with doors, decks, full kitchens, some houses even have outdoor showers on their decks! You can take your camper van or tent, but we loved our house. We stayed in the ECOLIFE unit, which has room for seven people. This is a great choice as we are a family of 5 and my Dad flew in from Seattle to join us.
Actual Venice:
We did Venice on the way in and on the way out of Europa Camping Village. We spent at least half a day both times which was the perfect amount of Venice for us. Plus, the Camping Village was so well done and so well maintained that we really didn’t feel like leaving. To be honest with you, I would absolutely recommend it and totally go again. It’s a fun spin on traditional camping.
Our Daily itinerary:
Our days looked like this. Wake up, cycle to grocery store (literally a 30 second bike ride, but the kids were obsessed with the rental bikes), buy amazing vanilla custard croissants from the grocery store, buy wine from the tap at said grocery store, have coffee at the restaurant at the beach while the kids played at the beach playground, take a cycling tour of the protected wetlands, take a day trip to Venice by boat, have lunch and dinner at the restaurant next to the beach so the kids can continue to play on the beach, and swim for hours at the pool. Each night there was a kids dance and disco which was cute.
Kid’s Club and Spa:
Two things we didn’t utilize, but loved, were the spa and the kid’s club. Since my Dad was with us, we had an extra set of arms and he loved to take the kids swimming or loved napping with the baby. But if we went again without my Dad, I’m sure we would make use of both facilities more.

Things to know:
Bring a swim cap. If you don’t bring one, you can buy one in the shop. You’ll need a swim cap for the huge pool, water slides, and splash pool.
We took the direct train home from Santa Lucia train station in Venice at 15:40 that gets into Zurich at 21:50. Another 6 1/2 hour train ride. Another option is to fly into Venice and take a boat. Or drive to Europa Camping Village from Zurich which is around 5 hours and 50 minutes.
Next time:
Next time we want to stay in the brand new Freed Home. It is their newest most modern unit, and it is located right next to the pool and spa.
We were hosted by Europa Camping Village for 3 nights. All opinions and thoughts are entirely my fault, I mean, my own. My thanks to Europa Camping Village for the wonderful experience.
