The Märlitram, a Jelmoli Christmas tradition
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! We are enjoying all our favorite Christmasy traditions for the second time since moving to Zürich! The girls and their friends went on the Märlitram this afternoon. We were so lucky to enjoy an incredibly gorgeous sunny day. We met up with some friends and enjoyed lunch at the Bellevue Christmas Market before the tram ride. We had raclette, berliners and ramen (for the kids), and glühwein (for the moms).
The Märlitram running since 1958, is the sweetest little red Christmas tram. It is such a treat for the girls. Jelmoli sells the 8 franc tickets at their store on the 4th floor. Each week they sell tickets for any day during the following week. There are many times each day to choose from. The tram ride is 20 minutes, children aged 4 to 10, no parents. I can’t believe it has been a year since the girls, then 3 and 5, went on this tiny little tram. The tram is driven by Santa and hosted by two angels. The angels read Christmas stories, sing Christmas songs, and hand out the cutest angel cookies. The Märlitram runs November 30th-December 23rd.
