Tea at Belmond Mount Nelson
No visit to Cape Town is complete without a luxurious afternoon tea at the Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel. We were lucky enough to visit family and friends in Cape Town for two weeks in October. We had a lovely long afternoon tea with my brother-in-law, mother in law, my husband, and our sweet girls. The gorgeous pink villa style hotel is set right in the heart of the city, with beautiful views of Table Mountain. The afternoon tea is set in a lush garden with indoor, solarium, or outdoor seating. The fountain, pool and large garden transports you to another world.
As soon as we arrived we were seated at the most beautiful table with a wonderful view outside to the garden. Our waiter was absolutely amazing. We left the tea selection up to him. He brought a fantastic selection of three teas for us, one was especially for the girls (Strawberry tea). Our favorite tea was the Mount Nelson blend, which was a black tea (must remember to buy some next time). Our waiter brought two large trays of savory delicacies. After our first round of savouries and tea, we went inside to the gigantic table full of desserts. My favorite was a macadamia and cashew tort. It was so delicious our waiter brought the chef over to let us know her secret ingredients. I may need to try recreating it at home. Or book our next flight stat! After many, many glass pots of tea our waiter brought over warm scones. They were incredible. We could have stayed for many more hours at this beautiful table.
The wonderful Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel offers complementary child care while you enjoy your afternoon tea. After the girls finished their tea, they went straight off to the children’s room. They were the only children so they got the royal treatment! We must figure out how to stay overnight at this gorgeous hotel.
We have been lucky enough to visit the Mount Nelson for afternoon tea a few times now and I highly recommend it. Here are more of my favorite places in Cape Town.
