Sweet Zürich Chocolate Tour
My friend Kerrin invited me along on her Sweet Zürich Chocolate Tour yesterday. I have wanted to do this tour for over two years now. Before we moved to Zürich I got in touch with Kerrin for her advice on where to live. Now we have a good chatting relationship on Instagram. I love when my family and I are visiting a city and she will comment on where I need to visit and what sweets I need to try. So I was absolutely thrilled to walk the beautiful streets of Zürich with her for a few hours as she taught me lifetimes worth about chocolate from origin to truffle.I met Kerrin at Sprüngli at Paradaplatz to begin our tour. It is a gorgeous sunny hot week in Zürich, just perfect for a walk around town. We chatted about the history of Sprüngli, our favorite things to order, and all things chocolate.
Then we set off for a tasting at Honold who I love for their yearly Chocolate Tram. We got to choose a few chocolates including their signature Trauben. The gorgeous yellow truffle is a passion fruit summer seasonal that was such a great combination of sweet and tart. My favorites are their caramel truffle and Lotti’s Best. We drank Honold’s delicious hot chocolate and finished up our tasting. Then we headed through the beautiful cobblestone streets of Old Town Zürich.
Out of all the chocolate tour stops, I learned the most at Max Chocolatier. They display the chocolate bars by chocolate percentage. Each bar is lined up from highest to lowest percentage along with the origin of the cocoa beans. This makes it easy to understand the subtle differences. I found it all very approachable and easy to navigate. After trying each of the many percentages, I found that I liked the 64% the best. There were such wonderful stops at gorgeous chocolate shops around old town Zürich. I would highly recommend the Sweet Zürich Tour to locals as well as friends and families visiting Zürich on holiday. I learned so much and will definitely book another tour so my girls and husband can come with. Until then, I need to keep my eyes peeled for the Honold Chocolate Tram coming to town. I feel like I have learned from the master and just want to learn more. For more details about the Sweet Zürich Tour and to make a reservation, take a look at Kerrin’s website.
