The Most Beautiful Playground in Zermatt At Sunnegga

Wolli’s Adventure Park at Sunnegga is a gorgeous playground and lake just above the famous ski village of Zermatt. We took my parents and our girls to the playground today and had a full day out. This is a quick and easy playground to get to from the center of Zermatt. Hop on the funicular next to the main Zermatt train station and it’s a quick 3 minute ride straight up through the mountain to the top. Once on top of Sunnegga, walk through the Wolli tunnel to the elevator leading right to the playground.

This playground is fantastic. Our girls spent most of the time playing with the water features and in Leisee lake. The girls loved pulling themselves on the rope raft back and forth across the lake. There is a cute picnic hut, plenty of grills, and the restaurant at Sunnegga to keep everyone occupied.

For lunch, we opted to walk the 20 minutes down to Chez Vrony for a beautiful view of the Matterhorn. Definitely for special occasions (although anytime you find yourself in Zermatt is most likely a special occasion in itself) Chez Vrony had wonderful service and amazing food. Plus, they had a bouncy castle and sheep! The girls were hardly at our table with all the fun activities. (More on Chez Vrony later.) This playground is wonderful, but the view of the Matterhorn is fantastic. Reclining chairs are facing the Matterhorn and lake to relax and enjoy the view while the kids swim and play for hours. There are all sorts of touch trail type things, but we will get to those on another weekend in Zermatt. For the spectacular view, this playground is one we will plan to come back to in the summer.Ski villages in the summertime have a whole different feel. I spent a few summers in Aspen as part of the Aspen Music Festival and completely fell in love with the entire summer sporty village vibe. Growing up, we visited Whistler in the summers and it has that same fantastic chilled out summertime atmosphere.
