Weekend Getaway To Italy
The girls and I hopped on a train Friday for a weekend getaway to Parco San Marco, a family friendly hotel in Italy on Lake Lugano. We had such a wonderful relaxing two nights we did not want to come home. The girls loved their mermaid swimming lesson and helping drive the boat to Porlezza. I loved the amazing Italian weather, my pedicure, and relaxing.
Why Our Girls Love It
This family friendly resort has absolutely everything to keep kids and parents happy. The girls loved the child sized robes to walk to and from the numerous pools and lake. When we arrived, the girls were so happy to see their beds all set up with children’s soap and shampoo along with their own child sized robes. The girls also love the free apples at reception, the coloring books, and treasure map and present they get upon check in. They love the kids club, the outside playgrounds, the beachfront pizzeria, boating along the lake, and the movies each night after dinner.
The Mermaid Lesson
The girls favorite part of the weekend was their mermaid lesson. We had the inside pool to ourselves and the girls each had a 20 minute lesson wearing a big mermaid tail. Twenty minutes doesn’t seem like a long time until you have a massive tail on and are trying to swim the length of the pool underwater. Right after their lessons we hopped in the taxi back to the train station and both girls immediately fell asleep in the car. A sure sign of a great weekend.
How We Got There
Last time we had a weekend getaway at Parco San Marco we drove down and got a bit slowed down by the Gotthard Tunnel traffic. You just never know how the tunnel is going to go. But the trains are so easy and reliable that there is really no reason not to take them. So we took a 2 hour train from Zürich to Lugano, then a taxi to the hotel. It was 60 Euros for the taxi and only 30 Euros for the train ticket. But the taxi was worth it. And taxis are notoriously extortionate in Switzerland. Parco San Marco is just across the border in Italy, but only by 6km.
Here is our last weekend getaway to Parco San Marco. We will definitely be back. The girls have requested we stay here next summer so we can swim in the lake and eat at the beach restaurant every day. It’s not a bad idea. Maybe I should start looking into that.
