Our Positano family vacation
Our family holiday in Positano was nothing short of amazing. My girlfriend is an expert for where to stay, play, and eat in Positano, so we followed her advice and had an amazing vacation with memories to last a lifetime.
I would absolutely recommend the Residence Alcione Positano (Room Serena 1) as the best place to stay with children. Our girls loved the large terrace to dance around. We loved breakfast being delivered every morning to our terrace while we relaxed in our pajamas. We also loved my Dad and his friends staying in a room just below ours.
Sleep: Residence Alcione PositanoEat: Da Vincenzo for an amazing dinner
Snack: Coffee, Gelato, and Pastries: Collina
Cooking Class: Buca di Bacco (my cooking class post)
Heike’s favorite part: All the kittens and eating calamari
Hadley’s favorite part: Da Vincenzo pasta and her new dress
How we got there: We flew from Zürich to Naples, stayed 2 nights in Naples enjoying the best pizza places (5 Euros for pizza!) and tours of the historic district. We rented a car and drove to Pompeii for a tour, then spent a week in beautiful Positano. We took day trips to Ravello, Amalfi, Sorrento, Capri and Vietra.
Tips: Positano is full of beautiful stairways, so a stroller is a bit cumbersome. The walk to the beach and back is full of distractions like cats, lizards, gelato and dress shops, so take a break and go at your own holiday pace. Also, the beach is not sandy, so if you have aqua socks or flip-flops, definitely bring them along. Or buy them at the sandal shop down on the beach like we ended up doing.
